Hello there! Welcome to Livewire!

Welcome to Livewire! This is a blog that will cover the behind-the-scenes aspects of the live music industry specifically relating to the marketing and booking portion of the business.

“If you aren’t doing what you love, you’re wasting your time.”

— Billy Joel.

Hi! I’m Emma! I am the author and creator of Livewire! I am from Dallas, TX and I currently attend Texas State University in San Marcos, TX as an Advertising major. I decided to create this blog because I am passionate about live music and the concert industry and I wanted to share my passion with other live music fans and people interested in getting into a career within the music business.

I became interested in live music promotions when I saw my first concert, Billy Joel, when I was 13 years old. This show inspired me to attend more concerts and expand my love of music to more artists and genres. From there, I decided to get involved with the live music industry professionally and began pursuing mentors and job-shadowing opportunities with working individuals in this field and within the Dallas area. Within just two years I had obtained two fantastic mentors, numerous industry connections through networking, and multiple years of hands-on professional experience that was rare for someone my age at the time to be receiving. My work towards developing my future career not only allowed me to go after my goals, but it inspired others to do the same and pursue their passions.

Since then, I have attended over 41 concerts and have worked directly with numerous music venues and live music promotion companies such as The House of Blues, AEG Presents, American Airlines Center, Granada Theater, and more. Follow along with Livewire as we explore everything from booking and promotions, to concert photography, and day-of-show operations. I hope Livewire can be your tell-all guide to every aspect of the live music industry, whether you’re interested in the concert business or are just a music fan in general.
